1. Policy Statement

1.1 Individuals excluded from the Corvallis campus pursuant to an exclusion notice issued by the Department of Public Safety may appeal the exclusion to the Associate Vice President for Public Safety/Chief of Police as described in Section 5 of this University Standard.

2. Reason for Policy

2.1 This University Standard provides a mechanism for appealing a notice of exclusion issued by the Department of Public Safety.

2.2 This University Standard was adopted from former Oregon Administrative Rule 576-002-0060 Exclusion Appeals and became the policy of the university in 2014 when governance transitioned from a state board to the university’s Board of Trustees. It does not address exclusion by any unit other than the Department of Public Safety, or from property other than the Corvallis campus.

3. Scope & Audience

3.1 This University Standard applies to all university employees, students, contractors, volunteers, visitors and anyone on the Corvallis campus.

4. Definitions

4.1. None.

5. Responsibilities & Procedures

5.1. Individuals wanting to appeal their exclusion notice must do so in writing to the Associate Vice President for Public Safety/Chief of Police.

5.2.The Associate Vice President for Public Safety/Chief of Police must receive the appeal within five days of the date the exclusion notice was received by the excluded individual.

5.3. The Associate Vice President for Public Safety/Chief of Police must issue a decision within seven days of the receipt of the appeal. The decision must be sent by certified mail to the individual who filed the appeal.

5.4 The decision of the Associate Vice President for Public Safety/Chief of Police is final.
